Previously, FoodMe, was an idea for a mobile application that our project mentor came up with to eliminate choice paralysis for individuals choosing where to go eat. Whether in a group setting or individually, everyone has come across the situation of not being able to decide where to, so our goal is to make the decision for you. It made more sense to do this on mobile devices, so we took on the challenge of making a mobile app as opposed to a website. Initially, we are aiming to benefit UC Davis students and to further evolve in the future.

As the project manager, I took the lead as I coordinated team meetings where I translated tasks from the frontend, backend, and design teams that I had previously created with my project mentor. Along with this, I managed and conducted a team of 6 student developers and 3 designers to build a functioning mobile app called “Food-Off” using React.js, Node.js, and MongoDB with the sole purpose of removing choice paralysis when deciding what restaurants to eat at based on certain given information that they give users input onto the app. Furthermore, I utilized pm tools to create sprints and to manage team’s progress and development
I learned how to further improve my leadership and management skills and thus improved how well I am able to translate terms in a crossfunctional team between designers and developers. I also learned how to manage a bigger team and make sure things get done while also learning when to step in and figure out problems on my own without overstepping onto certain individual's work. On top of all of this, I was further exposed to my liking for the design process while being introduced to more software development languages.
